# Noor-e-Mor: Black Bangalore Silk Dupatta with Hand-Painted Kalamkari Peacocks

Some pieces are worn, and some are carried like a story. This Bangalore silk dupatta belongs to the second kind.

Set on a deep black silk base with a soft natural sheen, the dupatta is brought to life with intricate Kalamkari handwork in ivory. At its heart, a pair of ornate peacocks sits within a grand circular medallion, their feathers traced in fine scrolls, scales and curling plumes. Around them, lotus blooms, sweeping leaves and meandering vines flow across the fabric in the classic Kalamkari style, where every line is drawn with patience and precision.

A gold zari border with a delicate ivory temple edge frames the artwork, adding a quiet festive shimmer that catches the light as you move.

Style it with an ivory, beige or gold kurta set for an understated evening look, or let it lift a plain black or pastel ensemble for weddings, festive gatherings and celebrations. It also drapes beautifully as a shawl over a saree or indo-western outfit.

Because the Kalamkari work is done by hand, slight variations in line, tone and motif placement are natural. These are the marks of the artisan, and they make your piece one of a kind.

**Wash Care**

- Dry clean only for the first wash, as hand-painted colours can release on first contact with water.
- After the first dry clean, gentle hand wash in cold water with a mild liquid detergent or baby shampoo is fine. Wash separately.
- Do not soak, scrub, wring or twist the fabric. Gently press out excess water in a towel.
- Dry flat or on a hanger in shade. Direct sunlight can fade the black base and ivory work.
- Iron on low heat on the reverse side, placing a thin cotton cloth between the iron and the zari border.
- Avoid spraying perfume or deodorant directly on the dupatta, as it can stain silk and tarnish zari.
- Store folded in a muslin or cotton cloth bag, away from moisture. Refold occasionally along different lines to prevent permanent creases on the zari.
