A quiet meeting of two crafts. This saree pairs a deep indigo Ajrakh body — geometric stars, medallions and dotted lattices resist-printed by hand in the naturally-dyed Kutchi tradition — with an ivory pallu carrying appliqué elephants outlined in the same madder-and-indigo Ajrakh cloth. Each elephant is hand-cut and patiently stitched onto the base, framed by a scalloped Ajrakh border that ties the two halves together. The result is understated and ceremonial at once: the density of the indigo grounding the airiness of the ivory, motif answering motif.

Made for the woman who wants her heritage worn lightly — equally at home at a daytime gathering, a gallery opening, or a festive evening draped with silver.

The tonal shifts and the small irregularities in the block impressions are inherent to the process, not flaws in it.

You may also notice faint gum or paste marks around the appliquéd motifs — this is the natural adhesive used to hold each piece in place while it is being stitched down. It is entirely harmless and washes out completely in the first wash, leaving the cloth clean.
