Ajrakh Hand Block Print 3 Piece Cotton Suit Set - Indigo & Madder

An unstitched three-piece in classic Ajrakh: indigo ground, madder rust, and the deep charcoal-black that comes from iron. The dupatta carries the fullest story — concentric mandalas, a dense paisley border, chevron and lattice panels, finished with hand-knotted rust tassels along a solid black edge. The kurta fabric is quieter, letting a single large medallion and a fine stripe band do the work, and the bottom fabric picks up the rust in slim vertical lines.
Ajrakh is one of the most labour-intensive printing traditions in the country — a sequence of resist, mordant and dye baths repeated over many days, each colour laid down separately with hand-carved wooden blocks. Small variations in tone, motif alignment and print density are the signature of that process, not a flaw in it.
