Some colours only come from the earth. This set is printed in Ajrakhpur, Kutch, where the red comes from madder root, the blue from an indigo vat, and the black from iron aged with jaggery. Nothing on this cloth is a pigment sitting on the surface — it has been built into the fibre over repeated rounds of resist printing, dyeing and washing.
The kurta panel carries a full jaal of rosettes and floral medallions, framed by mirrored borders. The dupatta closes into a deep black band finished with indigo tassels. The bottom fabric is kept quieter — spaced floral buttas on a plain madder ground, so it lets the kurta lead.
Slight irregularities in the print, small colour shifts, and the faint scent of natural dye are marks of the hand — not flaws.
