Ajrakh HandWoven Tussar Kurta & Dupatta, Indigo & byrd beige

This suit set brings Ajrakh, one of Kutch's oldest hand block printing traditions, onto the soft natural sheen of Tussar silk. Each motif is stamped by hand with carved wooden blocks, layer by layer, so every piece carries the small irregularities that show a human hand made it.

The kurta fabric has a sand-cream base. A placement yoke of indigo florals and a paisley-drop pendant frames the neckline. The body is covered in fine charcoal stripes, with star-lattice medallions in indigo and ochre, the geometric form Ajrakh is known for. The hem has a bold triangle border.

The dupatta has a dense floral jaal of rosettes and blossoms. Its borders feature arched mehrab motifs in deep indigo and mustard. It finishes in plain tussar pallus with hand-tied tassels.

Because it is hand printed, slight variations in print alignment, colour depth and texture are natural. They are marks of the craft, not flaws.

Wash care

• Dry clean only for the first wash. Dry cleaning is recommended afterwards too.
• If you hand wash, use cold water and a mild silk detergent. Wash separately and do not soak.
• Do not wring or twist. Press gently in a towel to remove water.
• Dry flat in the shade. Direct sunlight can fade the dyes and the tussar sheen.
• Iron on the reverse at low to medium heat, ideally with a pressing cloth.
• Store folded in a muslin or cotton bag. Keep away from damp and perfume sprays.
