Bhujodi Handwoven Cotton Saree in Indigo

Woven on a pit loom in Bhujodi, a weaving village on the edge of Kutch, this saree carries the quiet geometry that the Vankar weavers have kept alive for generations.

The body is a deep indigo cotton, scattered with small extra-weft motifs in ivory tiny crosses, dots and diamonds, each one counted and inserted by hand as the weaving progressed. The pallu opens into broad bands of fine stripes and traditional star motifs, the kind of ordered patterning that comes from memory rather than a graph. It finishes in a hand-knotted macramé edge with indigo and ivory tassels.

No two motifs sit exactly alike. The weaver's hand decides the spacing, and that is precisely the point.

Soft from the first wear, and softer with every wash. An everyday saree that doesn't ask to be saved for an occasion.

Wash Care

• First wash separately in cold water  indigo will release colour in the initial few washes
• Hand wash in cold water with a mild detergent; no bleach, no harsh soaps
• Do not soak beyond 5 minutes
• Dry in shade, inside out, to protect the colour
• Steam iron on medium heat; iron the tassels and macramé gently or avoid altogether
• Dry clean recommended if you prefer the crispness retained
• Store folded in a cotton or muslin bag; refold along different lines every few months
