Woven on a pit loom in Bhujodi, Kutch, this dupatta carries the quiet weight of hand-spun kala cotton — a rain-fed, indigenous fibre grown in Kachchh's arid soil and spun without irrigation or synthetic input.

The ivory ground is left almost bare, scattered with small extra-weft motifs in magenta, olive and yellow — the weaver's own vocabulary, added by hand as the cloth grew on the loom. Toward the pallu, these motifs gather and multiply into dense bands of interlocking pattern, layered stripe upon stripe, before ending in a row of hand-knotted woollen tassels in the same three colours.

The selvedge runs in clean parallel lines of magenta, yellow and olive — a border that needs no ornament.

Kala cotton is slightly irregular by nature. Slubs, occasional flecks in the yarn, and small variations in the weave are inherent to the fibre and the hand-loom, and are not defects.
