From the looms of Maheshwar on the banks of the Narmada comes a three-piece set in deep emerald and antique gold. The kurta fabric is a rich bottle green, woven with fine zari pinstripes that catch the light softly. It is finished with a gold zari border in Maheshwari's traditional zigzag (lehariya) weave.
The bottom fabric is a warm mustard-gold with the same subtle checked texture, so the green kurta stands out against it.
The dupatta brings the set together. It has a mustard-gold body with broad emerald bands edged in zari at both ends, and hand-knotted tassels. It drapes beautifully and holds a gentle sheen in both daylight and lamplight.
Maheshwari silk-cotton is light, breathable and gracefully lustrous. It is easy to wear through a long festive day and elegant enough for pujas, family functions and Diwali gatherings. Each piece is handwoven, so small irregularities in the weave are a mark of the artisan's hand, not a flaw.
