Woven on a pit loom in Bhujodi, Kutch, this lilac cotton stole carries the quiet arithmetic of the Vankar weavers — fine stripes in coral, sage and mustard running the length of the fabric, and small extra-weft motifs lifted one by one across the width. The ends deepen into a soft rose border, finished with hand-knotted fringe and tufted tassels in the same three colours. Light enough for a summer evening, textured enough to change the whole feel of a plain kurta.

Every motif is inserted by hand as the weave progresses - no two stoles carry them at exactly the same interval. Slubs in the yarn and small irregularities in the stripe are the signature of the loom, not a flaw in the cloth.
