Handwoven Brick Red Kala Cotton Tangaliya Stole

This stole is woven from indigenous, rain-fed Kala cotton from Gujarat and carries the 700-year-old Tangaliya weave of Surendranagar. Each tiny flower motif, ivory dots gathered around an indigo heart, is hand-twisted into the warp on the loom, one bead (daana) at a time, by Dangasia artisans. The motifs are woven in, not printed or embroidered, so they stay with the fabric for life.

Fine ivory stripes frame the deep brick-red body, and the motifs gather more closely toward the ends to form a subtle pallu. Both ends are finished with hand-knotted tassels in ivory and indigo that echo the colours of the weave.

Kala cotton has a gentle, textured hand that softens beautifully with every wash. It is breathable in warm weather and cosy as a light layer when the air turns cool. Drape it over a solid kurta, a plain saree, or a simple white shirt and let the craft speak.

Wash Care

• Hand wash separately in cold water with a mild detergent.
• The first wash may release some colour, so keep it apart from light fabrics.
• Do not soak for long, scrub, or wring. Gently press out excess water.
• Dry flat or on a line in the shade, away from direct sunlight.
• Keep the tassels untangled while washing, and smooth them out by hand while damp.
• Warm iron on the reverse side. Avoid ironing directly over the tassels.
• Dry clean if preferred for the first wash.
