Handwoven Cotton Jamdani Unstitched Kurta fabric with dupatta- Night Loom

Woven thread by thread, without a jacquard, without a punch card. This is Jamdani.it is built into the cloth itself, the weaver lifting individual warp threads by hand and passing a supplementary weft through them, one motif at a time. A single kurta length can take days. There is no machine anywhere in the process.

This set is Jamdani at its most graphic. The kurta length is a deep, unrelieved black cotton carrying a large ivory motif woven directly into the yoke — a mihrab-shaped arch of leaf and vine forms that will sit at the neckline once stitched, so the kurta arrives with its centrepiece already in place. Fine ivory butis are scattered across the body at intervals.

The dupatta is the same black ground, ordered differently: bands of fine ivory stripes running across the width, floral butis strewn through the field, and hand-knotted fringe at both ends.

Wash Care:

• Dry clean recommended for the first wash
• Thereafter, gentle hand wash in cold water with mild detergent
• Do not wring or bleach; dry in shade
• Warm iron on reverse
• Slight irregularities in the weave are natural to handloom textiles and a mark of their handmade origin
