A sea-green jamdani set carrying the weave's oldest habit: birds and flowering stems lifted onto the cloth by hand, one supplementary weft at a time, on a pit loom with no jacquard and no shortcut. The kurta panel holds a large paired-bird motif in yellow, coral and indigo against a blue flowering branch, framed by a rust-striped border. The dupatta repeats smaller bird buti across its body, with woven rust bands and knotted tassels at both ends.

Jamdani is one of the slowest weaves in India — a motif of this scale can hold up a weaver for the better part of a day. The cloth stays feather-light and breathable, softening with every wash.

Because it is entirely handwoven, small irregularities in the weave, slight variation in motif placement and a gentle unevenness of yarn are natural to the craft. They are the signature of the hand, not a defect.
