Jamdani Kurta Fabric with Dupatta — Ivory & Vermilion

A classic Bengal pairing, woven by hand in Phulia -undyed ivory cotton set against deep vermilion red.

The kurta fabric carries Jamdani work in red along one edge: a broad panel of temple triangles, geometric birds and stepped motifs, with fine butis scattered across the body. Each motif is inserted by hand, thread by thread, on the loom itself there is no printing or embroidery here. The dupatta reverses the palette: a red ground with fine white stripes, small Jamdani butis through the field, and a temple border finished with hand-knotted tassels.

Because the motifs are supplementary weft, the reverse of the fabric shows the same design in soft outline -a quiet mark of true Jamdani. Small irregularities in the weave and slight variation in motif spacing are inherent to the technique.

Wash Care:

• Dry clean recommended for the first wash
• Thereafter, gentle hand wash in cold water with mild detergent
• Do not wring or bleach; dry in shade
• Warm iron on reverse
• Slight irregularities in the weave are natural to handloom textiles and a mark of their handmade origin
